{"id":26853,"date":"2020-09-08T11:11:49","date_gmt":"2020-09-08T11:11:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.saharafootball.net\/?p=26853"},"modified":"2020-09-08T11:11:49","modified_gmt":"2020-09-08T11:11:49","slug":"kotoko-confirm-africa-participation-leaving-ashgold-ice","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saharafootball.net\/kotoko-confirm-africa-participation-leaving-ashgold-ice\/","title":{"rendered":"Kotoko confirm Africa participation leaving Ashgold on ice"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>Kotoko confirm Africa participation leaving Ashgold on ice<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>With next year&#8217;s CAF inter-club competitions yet to be kickstarted, the Ghana Football Association Executive Council yet again handed the baton to Ghanaian Premier League clubs, Asante Kotoko and AshantiGold to partake in next year&#8217;s competition.<\/strong><br \/>\n<script async src=\"\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js\"><\/script><br \/>\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\" style=\"display: block; text-align: center;\" data-ad-layout=\"in-article\" data-ad-format=\"fluid\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-7515973527815049\" data-ad-slot=\"5197133662\"><\/ins><br \/>\n<script>\n     (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\n<\/script><br \/>\nGhanaian Premier League champions Kumasi Asante Kotoko SC have confirmed their participation in the 2020\/2021 CAF Champions League competition leaving their regional rivals, Ashantigold on edge as the September 11, 2020 deadline looms over their heads.<\/p>\n<p>Kotoko\u2019s confirmation was contained in a letter dated September 07, 2020, signed by CEO Yaw Amponsah and sent to the GFA.<\/p>\n<p>The Club is expected to go through the mandatory Club licensing process as set out in the GFA and CAF Club licensing regulations.<\/p>\n<p>Engagement and registration for the 2020\/2021 CAF interclub competitions were opened on September 01, 2020, and will be closed on October 20, 2020.<\/p>\n<p>Asante Kotoko and AshantiGold were chosen by the country&#8217;s FA council on the back of winning the Tier One and Tier Two competition respectively organized by the Normalisation Committee.<\/p>\n<p>Hearts of Oak was the last club in Ghana to win the CAF Champions League far back in 2000 and it&#8217;s maiden edition of the CAF Confederation Cup beating fierce rivals Kumasi Asante Kotoko in 2004.<\/p>\n<p>It remains to be seen if, Obuasi based Ashanti Gold will take up the option of confirming their participation in the competition as their regional rivals have taken steps to.<br \/>\n<script async src=\"\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js\"><\/script><br \/>\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\" style=\"display: block; text-align: center;\" data-ad-layout=\"in-article\" data-ad-format=\"fluid\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-7515973527815049\" data-ad-slot=\"5197133662\"><\/ins><br \/>\n<script>\n     (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\n<\/script><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Kotoko confirm Africa participation leaving Ashgold on ice With next year&#8217;s CAF inter-club competitions yet to be kickstarted, the Ghana Football Association Executive Council yet again handed the baton to Ghanaian Premier League clubs, Asante Kotoko and AshantiGold to partake in next year&#8217;s competition.
