{"id":40447,"date":"2024-02-14T17:31:42","date_gmt":"2024-02-14T17:31:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saharafootball.net\/?p=40447"},"modified":"2024-02-14T17:31:42","modified_gmt":"2024-02-14T17:31:42","slug":"afcon-2023-ghana-spent-3m-sports-minister","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saharafootball.net\/afcon-2023-ghana-spent-3m-sports-minister\/","title":{"rendered":"AFCON 2023: Ghana spent $3m \u2013 Sports Minister"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The Minister of Youth and Sports, Mustapha Ussif has confirmed that the country spent $3 million in the recently ended AFCON tournament in neighboring, Cote D\u2019Ivoire.\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><script async src=\"\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js\"><\/script><br \/>\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\" style=\"display: block; text-align: center;\" data-ad-layout=\"in-article\" data-ad-format=\"fluid\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-7515973527815049\" data-ad-slot=\"5197133662\"><\/ins><br \/>\n<script>\n     (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\n<\/script><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Ghana qualified for the continent\u2019s tournament and was housed in Group B, which had, Egypt, Mozambique, and Cape Vere but failed to advance past the group stages in a second competition running.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>READ MORE :\u00a0<a title=\"Former President Kufuor launches The JA Kufuor Cup.\" href=\"https:\/\/www.saharafootball.net\/former-president-kufuor-launches-the-ja-kufuor-cup\/\">Former President Kufuor launches The JA Kufuor Cup.<\/a><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0Ussif announced during his visit to parliament on Wednesday that the initial budget was set at $8.5 million, with $5 million disbursed by the Finance Ministry to cover various expenses such as diems, flights, medicals, equipment, logistics, hospitality, and others.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">He however intimated that a total sum of $2 million was unused following the BlackStar&#8217;s failure to advance past the group stages.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">&#8220;Our estimated budget for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations tournament was $8,506,450.00 to cater for the team\u2019s pre-tournament and the tournament phases (group stages, 1\/16 stage, quarter-final, semi-final, and final),&#8221; he stated.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">&#8220;Out of the $8,506,450.00, $5,071,840.36 was released by the Ministry of Finance of which US$3,070,067.81 was spent on per diems, flight arrangements for the team, medicals, equipment, logistics, and hospitality. This resulted in a surplus of $2,001,772.55, after our exit from the tournament,&#8221; he elaborated.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">&#8220;An amount of US$400,000.00 was received from MTN Ghana.
